How is the campus vibe?

I am a junior right now in Georgia and I have been looking into colleges. I like the gator pride and the academic profile of UF but I have further questions concerning the campus:

Is the campus urban, surburban, or rural? (I would like a university where I can walk through quads to get to my classes and hang out on the lawns without choking from automobile fumes.)

I like the demographic percentages I saw on collegeboard.com. I am bi-racial and I welcome diversity and intergration. Are the students welcome to different cultures or does everyone cling to the familiar?

As a freshman, will most of my classes be lecture-size or high school classroom size? I prefer lecture size.

As a freshman, is it better to live in a dorm on campus to meet people? Or an apartment?

How is the overall attitude of the student body, faculty, and administrators? Do they welcome students from out-of-state?

I’d say it’s suburban. Walking between classes is great - “automobile fumes”, as you described, have never ever been a problem.

Students seem very, very welcome to different cultures.

As a freshman you’ll mostly be in lecture-sized classes. This will be the case less and less as you get farther in your major + take classes that not many majors require.

Live in a dorm your first year, then move to an apartment with the buddies you made.

Absolutely! No one cares whether you’re out of state or not.

Thank you Medwell! This actually helped alot. I’m glad that people seem welcome to different cultures. Lol and no automobile fumes are a plus.
