How is the campus?

Any Williams alums out there who want to answer this question? I'm a potential international student and I'm just terribly curious how life is in Williams. All everyone ever tells me is that it's boring and freezes over every winter, which I suppose is true--but it can't all be what's there...

Right?

If your question was more specific (what sorts of "life" at Williams do you want to know about?) it'd be easier to answer.

On the subject of Williams being "boring" and really cold... well it's certainly cold, but I've never been bored here. You're going to have a lot of work to do and students tend to be VERY active with their free time (much more so than any other college I looked at) so if anything, I'd say students are much less bored at Williams than the average college.

Weather-wise, I see you're from the Philippines. Just buy a warm coat and you'll be fine. You never have to walk far from one building to another (one advantage of a small campus) and the buildings are all well-heated, so if you really can't take the cold, it's not a big problem. You'll probably find that you enjoy bundling up and playing in the snow with friends after you get up here--most warm-weather folks do.

Williamstown is definitely cold, but rarely is it boring. Check out ace.williams.edu to see what our main student group (All Campus Entertainment) is planning for any particular weekend. Now might not be a great time to look, as it is reading period for finals, but in general they help throw a few parties every Friday and Saturday, as well as movies, concerts, and other events. There are tons of things to get involved with on campus and different events to attend almost every night of the week. My friends and I all agree that we have enough time in every day to do all the stuff on campus that we want to do OR our work, but with both there's never enough time in the day.
