how is the construction of a new town going?

<p>It's a great idea, but unfortunately I'll probably be long graduated by the time it's completed and really implemented.</p>

<p>Although it's a very worthwhile and ambitious project, I have some doubt that UConn can really pull off the creation of a classic college "town" from scratch that is similar to the sort of quintessential college towns like Chapel Hill, NC, Madison, Wisconsin, Athens, GA, etc. What UConn is essentially doing is building a retail complex with both rental and owner-occupied housing units thrown in. I have a hard time believing that any development of this sort is going to fundamentally alter the "cow town" (no offense, I like cows and rural settings) nature of the Mansfield/Storrs area. No matter how many shops, bars, restaurants and quaint buildings you put up, what will be missing is community. IMO, that isn't something that you can create with a master development plan, no matter how much $ you have to throw at it.</p>
