How is the Dept. of French Studies at Rice? and is it possible/feasible to double major in French Studies and in Mechanical Engineering?

1) no idea
2) absolutely, although easiest done with AP credits and good management skills.

I’m not sure that anyone would suggest double majoring when one of the majors is engineering.

1) I also have no idea how the French Studies program is. Looking at students’ reviews of the classes, though, it seems as though they have generally positive attitudes toward them, if that helps at all.

2) It might be possible if you have a sizable amount of AP credits related to MechE, but I don’t think it would be too terribly advisable. The MechE course requirements are pretty intense, particularly for the B.S.: https://memsweb.rice.edu/Content.aspx?id=53

That’s not to scare you away or anything like that, but you might find it more feasible to major in MechE, and just take French Studies classes that interest you. Of course, if you end up coming to Rice, you will have an abundance of academic advising and assistance to help you with tailoring your courses to your interests/desired majors, so don’t stress too much about it either way. :)
