Hello Trojan friends. I am visiting a couple of my friends at USC and I will spend a night or two possibly, and I was wondering what the general student consensus of the dining hall food is? I know that there are commercial restaurants on/near campus such as Chic Fil A (which is my favorite fast food place! YUM), but I also wanted to know what you guys thought about the dining halls because I prefer all you can eat style diners.

It would actually be cheaper to go to the off campus restaurants! The food in the dining halls is OK, but there are so many cheap and awesome places to eat within walking distance, I don’t know why you’d settle for dorm food.

Also, most dining plans come with a few “guest” meals, so you should have your friends check and see if they have any available.

There’s nothing extraordinary in the dining halls – salad bar, a lot of pasta, pizza, cereal, etc. I pretty much lived off PB&J sandwiches, salad, grilled cheese and french fries as a freshman because those there the only edible “vegetarian” items. The meat (especially at EVK) is pretty gross looking. Save the $14 and go to La Taquiza instead!

Thanks for your comments guys. And yeesh, I did not know it was that expensive at USC for dining meals. Where I am from it costs $8.25 so I assumed similar. I guess I’ll go with the restaurants! I have heard good things about the ones around USC from a lot of people!

I like dorm food. I’ll admit I haven’t been to USC’s dining halls so I can’t say if I like SC dorm food, but I am not a picky eater at all. When I have sushi, burgers, pizza, pot roasted steak, and fish tacos etc, I can’t really complain anyway so if SC is like that I’d pay ~$13 just because I don’t wanna go all the way back to my own dorm to save $5. To be completely honest, sometimes I like variety more than quality. It keeps eating fun.
