How is the engineering dept. in UCSC?

I'm thinking about applying for Fall 2013 and I'm wondering how the computer science/computer engineering program is like. I haven't really heard much about UCSC's engineering dept and I've tried to do some research, but I'm afraid it might have been biased. So I wanted to ask here.

How hard is it to find an internship/job from UCSC's engineers/software engineers? Do they have good internship programs? Good alumni networks? Recognized nationally/internationally?

Thanks

Computer Science Game Design seems like a program you won’t find elsewhere.

Otherwise, UCSC engineering seems pretty young.

Thanks for the info!

finding internships is very easy provided that you are a good student. We are right next to silicon valley so there are literally thousands of jobs you can grab.

great!

whats the difference in the programs between UCSC, SJSU, and UCD since they’re all from the general area?

For comparing UCSC and SJSU, there are more engineering programs in SJSU but they are probably not as in-depth as the few engineering programs that exist in UCSC. And UC Davis is pretty far from the other colleges. I think provided you are a good student with 3.0+ college GPA no matter where you go among the three you will get good internship opportunities.

thanks for the info

UCD engineering is a little lackluster according to some of my friends that go there, SJSU is very nice though
