We recently visited this school and my son loved it. But it seems like it is the "easiest" school he is applying to. Does anyone know how the engineering program is here?

US News and World Report ranks Graduate Schools of Engineering (I am not aware of any specific rankings of undergraduate Engineering Programs). UD is ranked 45th overall in the nation for Engineering and its Chemical Engineering Program is ranked 10th in the nation (above all the Ivy League Schools except for Princeton). You can’t go wrong with an Engineering Degree from UD and the cost is considerably less than elite private or other public universities, assuming that you are from OOS. Even if you qualify for merit scholarship money the quality of the education that you would get at UD is excellant. Assuming you do well grade wise at UD you could easily get into any graduate program in the country. Plus the campus is one of the most beautiful in the country.

During our session in the engineering dept. at Udel, they said that the biomedical eng. dept. is new and is not Abet certified yet. I am wondering if my son should stick with a different field in engineering, if he ends up going there. Is this a big problem? All their other eng. programs are certified.
