How is the financial aid at Penn?

For those who have been accepted already, how much money did u get and if you don’t mind, tell me how much ur parents make on avg a year.

My parents make around 40k this year but since they’ve just changed jobs it’ll be around 70-80k next year.

I’m wondering if I’d be able to afford Penn if I get in.
I would rather not get a large student loan if possible.

i'm wondering the same Q too!!!......bump!

com'on EDers...

I bet at least half of the kids at PENN have parents making less than 60-70 grand.

well...they gave us what our EFC didnt cover (and that was a lot)....so we were happy....BUT we just did the FAFSA and ended up with around 7 thousand more for our EFC....soo, who knows what will happen

hows their financial aid?

I'd say strong.... to... very strong.

Strong in comparison to the need-based awards of other colleges. I know a couple of ED kids that got shafted by the finaid office, though, and they weren't too happy with it.

Most often, the financial aid will be decent, but I doubt it will cover everything a middle class student will want it to cover. The more and more I see, the more I feel that it's getting very hard to get good financial aid these days.

Joey

To the best of your knowledge how much would someone hget with parents making under 100K versus someone with 120K+? Would you conjecture financial aid would be around 15-20 grand, or less?

Depends on your circumstances. Parents are expected to contribute some crazy number like 33% of their available after tax income to your education. The number of siblings you have will raise or lower this number, as will any other special circumstances.

Joey

33%!!! What are we gonna eat? Tree bark?

Looks like it. Loans up the wazoo when we come out...40 years work after that. No social secuirty. lol, not bad eh?
