OK…I couldn’t go to Calday b/c i was touring UCLA…(I think im going to go to Berkeley)
anyway…how is the housing? some people tell me Foothill is more spacious and quiet compared to others. But some say the Units are better b/c they are closer to the campus and it has a better social environment. (Foothill is located on a hill, right)
Also, is the bathrooms co-ed?? still girls/guys are separate right?
So how was the overall atmosphere? UCLA was pretty laid-back.
When i went to berkeley last year, i was pretty disappointed at the surrounding environment b/c they were kinda “ghettoish” and all…
Is the campus really crowded and small? I hope not…

Check out the Cal Day thread.

I toured Unit 3, very comprehensive tour. The dorm rooms are bigger than the ones in UCLA. However, the desks are kind of plain and crappy, and they're connected together in the middle of the room facing each other, which I find awkward. What you can do is loft the beds, and put the desks underneath them. That'll create plenty of space. Unit 3 is apparently the worst unit because it's old, but I was still impressed. It is very plain looking, though, and the lighting is a little bit dim. The co-ed bathroom is apparently never a problem, but if you don't like going to the bathroom with other people in the room, you can always use one of the million other bathrooms around campus. Security is very tight and laptops never get stolen. One did in Clark Kerr because someone left the window open and a thief climbed in, but that won't happen in a high rise unless you've got Spider-Man on the loose (or Batman). They have pretty much everything in the dorms. Constant activities. And there is a big academic focus. They bring in professors and TAs and tutors for tough classes. There is a quiet study room, and one where talking is allowed. There is a computer lab with everything you need including games. A lounge with a TV and DVD player. Whatever you need is there. Kitchen. Laundry.

wow spiderman and batman are my heros... how dare u accuse them of stealing. (i'm looking forward to Batman Begins)

everything what aim78 says is true. I also found unit 3 a bit crappy and yes the bathrrom there is coed, which i couldnt believe but whatever.

S. has lived at Foothill this year, and it does seem to be a bit on the quiet side (which is good or bad depending on your needs). The bathrooms are not coed.
I've heard (from trusted sources of course;-) that Clark Kerr is pretty wild - random sex and alcohol all the time. I figure you can always go to a party, but what if you need/want to study?
Foothill is on the North Side of campus, which overall is a bit more quiet than South Side.
