How is the LOCATION of Rutgers - New Brunswick? (Comparing to Penn State and Umiami)

Hi guys! I'm accepted to Rutgers- NB, Penn State- Uni Park and UMiami.
(US citizen living in Turkey, psychology major)

I'm considering choosing Rutgers because it's close to NYC. I like the college avenue campus. How is the neighborhood?
How is the transportation to downtown NJ and Manhattan?
Is public transportation available from the campus?
Any info would help!
Thanks.

There is good public transportation access from New Brunswick. Here is the transportation site <a href=“New Jersey Inmate Search – New Jersey Department of Corrections Offender Lookup”>http://thecityofnewbrunswick.org/planninganddevelopment/transportation/

The train station to get into NYC is easily accessible from the College Ave campus. Bus service to North Jersey (Newark, Jersey City, Bayonne) is available.

The neighborhood surrounding College Ave is variable. There is a downtown area with restaurants and shops but it is fairly compact. Other surrounding areas can be dicey at night. It is best to choose housing as close to College Ave as possible, if you want to live on that campus.

Student bus service between all 5 campuses runs frequently and is free.

I am not sure what you mean by ‘downtown NJ’. If you mean ‘can I get to South Jersey from New Brunswick?’, yes, you can. See the NJ Transit section in the above link.
