Hi I'm an accepted student and I'm currently accpeted to 3 schools and waiting for the other 4 which hopefully I will be accepted.

UWashington is not my top choice but considering its med school i applied its undergrad. how is the med school related to the undergrad? I know the med school is extremely good but will the undergrad participates in the med school? I'm going to major in microbiology.

Undergrads do have opportunities to participate in research projects if they seek them out. Microbiology would seem to be ripe for that sort of opportunity, and doing some outstanding work in that field might look fabulous on your application for med school. That said, I don't know whether the medical school has any preference or quota for UW students. I doubt it, but check deep into the website and see what they have to say, or, call admissions.

I would check out the faculty in the areas you want to study as an undergrad, and see what research projects they are working on. If some of them make you go, "Wow! I want to be a part of that!", UW might be the place for you. If it all seems boring, and you get accepted other places, then bid it farewell and never look back.

I have heard but do not know for a fact that UW Med School does not take as many UW grads as you would expect--less than 50% of the students in the Med School went to UW ug..

you are surprised that that the majority of the best med school in the world's don't all come from one college?
I would be surprised if 15% of the kids in the UW Med School class went to UW

Can anyone who attends/attended UW comment on the premed opportunities or quality of education that UW offers. I am considering UW for my undergrad school because of (1) the UW Medical School (2) cheaper than most other colleges to choose from (3) closer to home. Any comments would be helpful.
