is it challenging?

"Challenging" is a word that does not actually apply to any "pre-med" program. Pre-med is not a major. You can major in virtually anything and be pre-med, although many choose to major in a science. To apply to medical school you need to complete certain course work in sciences, math, and writing regardless of what your major is and a number of those required courses are challenging, e.g., organic chemistry is generally consider a major "weed-out" course for those considering med school.

Pre-med is actually an advisory program. If you check pre-med on your application and are admitted, you will have access to that advisory program which provides all info you need to prepare yourself for applying to medical and you will have access to advisors who will help you keep on track, suggest steps to take, including summer employment, and aid in applying to med school. They may also suggest at some point that you may not make it and may want to think about a different career path. UIUC's advisory program is good.

thanks for the info.

I'm talking about more of the science majors, such as chemistry, physics, and biology.

I heard medical schools weight MUCH more on your GPA than the prestige of your school... so i was wondering if Illinois' prequisite courses for premed are any hard.

Its a fact that you can major in anything science related, but the question is, How is UIUC in terms of EC opportunities? To get into med school you need good research, and its highly advised to have some clinical experience, such as shadowing a doctor or helping out. UIUC is a bit far away from the city, so do students have many opportunities? My other question is How is the science-track Psychology there for undergraduate. And last, anyone know the percentage of students that get accepted into Medical school? thanks!
