How is the process different from regular admission?

Maybe I should start a new thread for this, but I'm just wondering...

If I was waitlisted regular decision to a school for first-year/freshman admission, do I have a chance as a potential sophomore transfer? The school in question is W&M, and I was a fairly strong candidate the first go-round, or so I thought. I think the only thing that kept me out was being out-of-state.

Usually when you get waitlisted and reapply you have a better chance the second time, although this varies school to school. Some schools don't like looking at RD rejects apps.

Thanks for all the info. Any thoughts on the amount of colleges I should apply to? The more I look into it the bigger my list gets... thanks

bump...

should I go for only a couple or would 5-6 be ok?

You should apply only to schools you have researched, visited, and are sure would be better places for you than where you are now, even if you change your major...
