Hi, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, considering it's my first post, but I have some questions about
the social life and campus activity at Dartmouth! Please be honest! I recognize that Dartmouth is a great school with a lot of opportunities, but I'm unsure to see how well it fits me personally. My biggest 6 questions are:
1. How diverse is Dartmouth?
2. I've heard in the news a lot about sexual assault at Dartmouth. How has this impacted Dartmouth life today? How do students handle this?
3. Are students happy here? Is this a stressful environment or an exciting free college?
4. Campus unity is very important me. I like this Dartmouth is located in Hanover because it means Dartmouth isn't a "suitcase school" with students always leaving and coming. But, has this made Dartmouth stifling and claustrophobic for students? By the fourth year, are students ready to go?
5. Honestly, I'm definitely not a drinker. I'll go to parties, but never drink. Is Dartmouth a good school for non-drinkers? And if I'm not in a sorority, will this cut me of from feeling a part of Dartmouth? I saw that 62% of students participate in Greek Life, so I'm not exactly sure how the 38% feel.
6. Does the cold weather inhibit activities outside, leading to more parties inside and therefore more drinking?

oh, and how bearable is the cold at Dartmouth?

I have similar questions. From what I’ve read, Dartmouth is quite a social place. Lots of dorm life, Greek life, parties, campus events. But I don’t sense a “buzz” on campus. That could be because it’s not a typical big sports school. Do kids play intramurals? Are there college bars that are flowing with students on weekends? Is there a sense of community?
