How is the social scene here?

How do people dress? How do they act? What do they do for fun? How diverse is it? How’s the weather and how does it affect the social scene? Etc

IUB can be many things at many times just like any big university.

People dress in every way you could imagine. It’s a tradition to go to class at least once in your pajamas. You may sit next to someone from Kelley in a suit who has a meeting later, while the person on the other side of you is in ratty jeans. Unlike some other schools, there is no one vibe.

People act in a generally friendly and respectful manner. Sure, you’ll hear some drunken fool screaming out a car window on Saturday night from time to time, but most folks are what you’d consider normal for a Midwestern school and don’t go out of there way to bother others. Apart from a few misguided Greek folks, you’re unlikely to run into much snobbery or elitism.

People’s definition of fun is pretty diverse and so IUB students reflect this. Sure there is a lot of drinking, partying, sports, etc. to chose from. Apart from a beach or mountain, it’s all here.

Diversity is in the stats. I have made friends from every color, creed, and region of the country.

The weather is moderate. Hot as blazes a couple weeks each Fall and Spring, as well as snowy and cold a couple weeks each winter. Fall at IUB is glorious. The social scene goes on rain or shine.
