How is the UCI Waitlist looking this year?

@waitlisted1234 @mainecoons14 i honestly don’t know what to think… all i know is that i’m not gonna get my hopes up anymore… this wait has been too long soo yeah aha

@collegebound101 Well. We have one week left… Sigh I really hoped we’d get in and I still do.

@blah97blah oh I only called twice and the first time the lady was nice
But it was a different lady this time (different voice) and she was more rude
But yeah definitely everyone has probably been calling them I’d be annoyed too haha.
@college101bound yeah… Somehow I felt like we’d get our results today in the evening but now I’m not sure

@waitlisted1234 I’ve called about four times haha
I feel like calling and telling them that I know a lot of people are giving up their spots at uci because they heard back from the waitlist at the other UC’s to see what they’ll see

Got home! Shoot how could they be so rude!! This makes me mad X(
We have been waiting for a long time! They totally can’t understand our feeling

So are freshman the only ones expecting an admission decision within this coming week?

I feel like UCI is pretty unorganized. Like initial admissions came out in batches and now this. Some people said they didn’t receive an email notification that they got waitlisted BUT I did. And Idk why they’re being so rude over the phone. We’re also frustrated and being patient

Yeh, even though we are their “back-up plans” , but we put our hearts in this admission, and we worked hard to try to get in, and now being so patient for this long long waiting. Can they just understand us a little bit and try to work this out faster? ? All they can response is one word : “idk”
Omg, I don’t believe this is sooooooo hard, extremely hard for them to just give us a decision. Or at least tell us if they are going to accept people or not! We rush to make our decisions these days, if they don’t have any spots then just tell us!
It seems they just don’t care

Well tbh most colleges don’t care about the applicant feelings. It sucks but what can we do
This is the system.

Yeh, cold truth. But we still want to get in lol…

I wouldn’t really provoke them.
Like what if they read these comments?i wouldn’t be surprised, this forum is the most viewed for uci.
Of course we want to get in. If we do, that would be amazing!
If we don’t get in, that doesn’t mean we’re anything less.
what I’m going to do especially if I get rejected is… Im going to study super hard in undergrad at ucr and get amazing grades , get like idk 400 volunteer hours at a hospital and then in a few years you’ll catch YA girl at an amazing med school
This rejection, if it does happen, isn’t going to determine how successful I’m going to be
I’m smart. I just need to try harder. I’m sure everyone has room for improvements so don’t let this bring you down

All of you are amazing people and UCI would make a great investment if they accepted us. I just wanted to let you all know that! Take deep breaths
Nothing is official
We won’t know If we’re rejected unless we’re officially rejected
And I might be saying this to make myself feel better as well, but I honestly think we need to relax
They really should tell us soon though

@waitlisted1234 well said
It’s just that this year has become very competitive
If we would’ve applied last year I’m pretty sure we would have got in
But if uci doesn’t accept us, then it’s their loss…
Because we’ll be making ucr, or whatever school the rest of you will be attending, look good
I’ve managed to keep my 4.34 GPA all of my high schools years, and to get waitlisted
I won’t be bummed out about this
And neither should all of you
Uci is a great school, but we are all great students and we will make any school a great school

You all are so amazing with the positive feedback and i appreciate every single one of them. Being rejected doesn’t define your cpabilities. No matter where life takes us there’s a reason for it. We’re all going to do amazing in college and beyond i just know it!

I looked back on UCI Admissions Facebook and saw a post (a month ago?) that some waitlisted students WILL get off. But Idk how true that is anymore, since the lady that was called said she didn’t know. No matter what, I’m sure we will have a great college experience and can transfer in the future if not admitted.

@blah97blah agreed! we’ll all do great :slight_smile:
@college101bound exactly! Rejection doesn’t mean we are less than someone who was accepted. also, it doesn’t matter where we start, it matters where we end.
@norcal245 yeah I saw that too! Honestly idk why they posted that because they should have no idea especially months before may first.

Also I read the comments from the uci admissions page
Someone: Hi, uci has always been my dream school. I recently got an email saying that there has been an increasing amount of students thus no housing can be offered. Does that mean that students will not be offered a spot off the waitlist at all? I’m really stressing about this :frowning:
The uci admissions page: I have not been told there is no housing. Please sit tight as we process the SIRs to see if we have openings for waitlist students.

@waitlisted1234 Yup! Made me have a lot of hope, but it’s slowly dying down xD And guys, don’t get sad if there’s a rejection. I had a friend that got into UCSB (which is ranked high) with a 3.4! So don’t be harsh on yourselves!

Wait, was that posted today? That prob means they’re gonna let us know next week then (if they’re processing now).

@waitlisted1234 Hey this is kinda random, but if you want to go to med school… You should go to UCR. Like forget UCI, at UCR they just started their medical school, and if you work in the riverside area for five years after you graduate, your tuition is free. And the chances of getting into UCR med school is 1 in 49, but if you go to Riverside for undergrad, your chances become 1 in 9. So honestly, I would really really consider going to ucr. Message me if you want to know anything more.

@norcal245 hahhaa I say stay neutral
Prepare to go to your SIR school
Don’t think you’ll get rejected
Don’t think you’ll get in
And that way, if you get in Itll be like a pleasant surprise! If you don’t get in, it won’t be as much as a shock as compared to if you had high hopes
OHH your friend’s personal statement and extracurriculars were probably amazing!
