how is the weather during the summer, fall, winter, and spring?

please describe me the yearly weather at berkeley.

i need to decide what clothes to bring. i am coming from Boston. i will take some courses during summer session although i am a fall admit.

here in Boston the weather can be brutal, im looking forward to some California sunshine :)

It's very very good weather.

www.weather.com is a good place to look, especially for "yearly averages." I don't feel like describing each phase right now, but will later if nobody else does. :)

I think the "California sunshine" Mr. Celtics is referring to is Southern California sunshine, however.

Puh shaw, Berkeley gets its share of California sunshine.

:p

It just has a bit more rain than So Cal, especially during the winter.

yea.. all my Socal friends hated Berkeley for all the rain this past year.. but honestly, all year round its for the most part very nice and pleasant... plus this year was a rather abnormal one.. 20-something rain days in March.. usually not that bad.. and snow in San Francisco for 1st time in 30 years...

Are you from So Cal, DRab?

Yeah, commonsense, I've heard from different people that it was the worst rain in 50 years and the worst in 100 years.

I'm from So Cal, yes.

what clothes do you guys bring to CAL?

I've lived in both Norcal and SoCal (Sacramento and Fresno for a few years, currently living in San Diego), and the only major differences I find between the two areas are during the winter/spring seasons, in Norcal it's raining a lot (but I don't mind really), and San Diego was sunny and 80 degrees during January. But during the fall and more into the spring, Norcal can be sunny and very hot (Fresno is over 100 degrees this time of year almost all the time, whereas San Diego is rarely over 90).

Mostly t-shirts and shorts and jeans. I have a few sweat shirts from Berkeley that I put on from time to time, and a light jacket. I also have a medium heavy jacket (by my standards, probably different for you in Boston :)) that I wear when it's raining or very cold. I am often in sandals, as you will find many students here, but I have regular shoes as well. I have a few long sleeve shirts I rarely wear. Some sweat pants to sleep in or when I'm feeling lazy, to wear around campus. Basketball shorts are nice for working out or playing soccer with friends or frisbee, that sort of thing.

The summer will be fairly hot later in the year, but looks pretty perfect now.
