My brother is taking the following courses as a junior:

AP Chem
AP U.S
AP Stats
Honors English III
Honors Pre-calc
Honors French III

He could add AP Econ and take out French....or add AP Bio and take out French.... thing is he took honors bio I as a freshmen and got a B.... so should he double up and take AP Bio to get an A? Also, how many years of foreign language do competitive colleges really want?

Now, he's interested in medicine and is looking to apply to some BS/MD programs.

that sucks. i took 4 hard AP’s and 2 college classes as a junior. honors classes are bs. just take ap’s. and take 4 years of foreign languages at the minimum.

Keep the French. It is important to show dedication and a willingness to learn about other cultures and languages.

Also, it would be a bad decision to take ap chem and bio in the same year. Both are major homework classes.

I say leave the schedule as is, it’s really good. Four years of a language will keep him competitive (most colleges want to see as much mastery as possible), and he can take AP Bio senior year. Chem before bio makes more logical sense anyway.

It looks solid. Definitely keep the French.

tomjones…how can you say that that schedule “sucks.” You gotta be a really arrogant ******* - that’s a good schedule by ANY standards. Also being junior year, this kid will have other things to work on too.

APUSH, AP Stats, and the three “honors” classes are a joke.
Take some college classes or something.

Ap chem is in there too buddy…which is a hard AP
and maybe money/transportation deter a lot of people away from college classes

dave, pay no attention to tomjones.

Thanks for the advice. Will do.

Next year, he will be taking AP Physics so should he take AP Bio along with that?
Eh… junior year is the critical year in terms of getting the GPA and rank up so I’m just trying to figure out the best possible schedule.

Well, yes it is. BUT if you take too much then it won’t matter how many AP classes you have, your GPA will be down the tubes. I would say take AP bio instead of physics. If he does really well in chem this year, then bio won’t be too bad. However, AP bio and physics at the same time during your senior year might be a bit much.

What is his schedule this year?

Don’t drop French, I believe most competitive colleges require 4 years of language.

As for the people who were dissing this kid’s schedule… My sister got into Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia while taking three APs and three “honors” courses. She didn’t take any classes at the local community college.

**** tomjones. you dumb ****ing phaggot.

Something tells me that the people who are *****ing at tomjones are relatively new to HSL…

^ Why do you say that?

Btw, if that is your first s/n, then you are realitively new to HSL.

I say that because these people don’t realize that TJITM is the resident ■■■■■. And this is my second screen name

Definitely keep the French. It’s okay to have fewer than 4 years of a language but once you start one you shouldn’t drop it.

I think the sched looks pretty good. it wouldn’t hurt to switch AP Stat for a harder AP but since you didn’t propose that in your OP it sounds like he really wants to take Stat, in which case he should keep it. It’s better to take what you like and get into top colleges (which he will likely do with the schedule) than to be an automaton just to get into the name-brand ones.

Take AP English. Take online pre-calc over summer and do AP calc next year.
Or do calc/precalc over summer and do calc II junior year.

self study AP stats. never take ap stats in school.

do college stats.

self study or online class french III. take college french.

k that should make it a decent schedule.
