How is UC Berkeley's Media Studies?!

hey guys, I'd posted a thread earlier in the Texas Colleges forum regarding UT Austin.

My stats: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/texas-colleges/1528468-chances-ut-austin.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/texas-colleges/1528468-chances-ut-austin.html</a></p>

Basically, I wanna pursue advertising so I'd have to study Communication/Media studies if advertising itself is not a major in the college right? How good is Berkeley's media studies program compared to UTAustin, Syracuse (Is it any good in the first place?) or USC? So if you have USC, UT Austin, Syracuse and UCB...how would you rank them in relevance to the intended major and job prospects?

Beside that, do you think UCB is the kind of school to consider the applicant's major while judging her application? For instance, my GPA UW is only a 3.0 - 3.10 (and I doubt it will go above that since I only have senior year left)...I understand that my chances are very low to nothing with this but I do have stellar grades in English and Art (considering Media studies and the career is a creative field) and great ECs (including 2 internships in the same field). Does this increase my chance of getting to UCB for media studies, considering my sats are 2000+? (btw im at international student)

Thank you! :)

Anyone? :/

I think you’ll have trouble being admitted to Berkely and USC. The others I am less familiar with.

With your stats. I’d focus on the CSUs. Long Beach and other So Cal schools must have credible programs but, don’t rule out SJSU.

Good luck.
