How is UC GPA calculated?

Sorry if this sounds stupid... But I've heard many different things. I've heard that it only includes the required courses and I've even heard that it does not include your freshman year. Can anyone tell me exactly how UC GPA is calculated?

yea it only includes a-g courses, your sophomore and junior year, and its capped it about 8 weighted grades or something like that

oh and max is also 4.5

One more question abt this...does UC GPA incl the scoring that an A- is like a 3.7, B+ is a 3.3, etc.

Or, are all A's 4.0 & all B's 3.0?

UC's use a straight 4.0 scale. An A- is the same as an A and the same as an A+ - all count 4.0 unless it is a UC approved honors or AP class, then you get an extra point up tp the limit of 8 classes.

For complete details, go to www.ucop.edu/pathways

Can you explain more about the extra point of only 8 classes thing??

So you can only take a maximum of 8 AP classes in your Soph/Junior year??

I'm a Junior right now and I took 1 AP class last year, and am taking 4 this year. That's only 5 so it doesn't really affect me right?

don't some schools look at your freshman GPA?

Not yet. But according to some teachers, they might in the future.

Honors points are given for UC-approved honors, AP, IB, and college classes.

For the 8 honors classes...

Are you allowed 8 honors semesters or years?

What? I thought the only schools that didn't look at freshman year were like princeton and stanford.

Thank you. Can you please explain if the grade point boost applies to 8 honors/AP semesters or Years?
