I have been admitted to ucsd but the major is my second choice,biochemistry/ chemistry, however, my first choice is bioengineering. How is ucsd's biochemistry/ chemistry? Will it be competitive to change my major to bioengineering?And the college admitted is John Muir, hows the atmosphere here?
And Im also admitted to U of Washington. I also choose bioengineering as my major, but UW havent decided my major, UW just make pre-engineering as my major.
I love both these universities, but i feel so complicated which one i shoud accept offer.
Could you guys give me some advice?

UCSD’s Biochem/Chem program is really great. If you’re looking for a job in biotech or pharmaceuticals, UCSD grads do very well because there are so many of these companies that are in the area. Many of them even start at UCSD.

Yes, UCSD biochemistry is fantastic.

Are you in-state for UCSD or Washington? Would both be about the same price for you?

If you desire a full, traditional college atmosphere (big sports, social scene, etc.), Washington will provide that more so than UCSD. Also, I think Washington may be on semesters (I could be wrong) while UCSD is on the quarter system. Just something to consider.

^ OP lives in China.

OP, the better research in the area of biomedical engineering is happening at UCSD and UC Berkeley, along with MIT. UDub doesn’t crack the top 10, actually.

Im an international student, so the tuition of UCSD would be higher than washington at least about $10,000. I have no idea which kind of atmosphere I like…

I think I have seen UDub’s bioengineering is top 6 in the US New’s. But if I attend UCSD in the autumn, I have to consider how to change my major to bioengineering. And if I havent change my major successfuly, what should i do? to study in the college of science for 4 years?

@samuelarnold
I have no plan which kind of word i want to look for, I just want to major in bioengineering. Are there much a lot of students want to change major to bioengineering every year? would it be competitive if i change my major?

help help help( not too short)

I think you should post your questions on the UCSD section of this website: [Alphabetic List of Colleges - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/alphabetic-list-colleges/) then click on UCSD in the list.
