How is unweighted vs. weighted calculated?

<p>I've searched here, but if you can point me to a thread...</p>

<p>When is the uw vs. w GPA calculated, generally? Does the high school do it on their report cards, or the colleges during the app process? </p>

<p>If a student has a 3.4 or so GPA but has an A or B in the 9 AP classes taken during high school, how is the weighted GPA figured out? </p>
