Does anyone have any clue how WFU's aid is? They say that they meet 100% demonstrated need but I am not sure they meet need with a lot loans. My EFC was around 3000, so cost is a very important concern for me. Do you know if Wake does enrollment management and packages financial differently for different acceptees? I am a URM, First-generation, and low-income student who started a non-profit organization (Wake is big on community service), do you think that makes me "desirable" for Wake?

The 07-08 common dataset has info in Section H. lines H2 i-m have the numbers you are asking about. Unless they have changed, the loan portion of FA packages looks a bit high.

Thank you. That does not bode well with me. Does anyone know if Wake’s Financial Aid practices differential packaging? Also, there are a 586 school, so is there way to discuss changing my package if it is too loan-heavy?

my friend’s package was horrible. His parents make under 40k, but he will have around 60k in loans when he graduates.

What?! And he attends? Is he that crazy about Wake? No school is worth that much debt, especially coming from that socioeconomic background. Any parents here that can give me advice to help negotiate my package if it is that bad? Please? My parents do not speak English, so I have to do all the fighting and work to get aid :(

I feel so horrible right now…

If Wake Forest continues to give lots of loans, this will only continue to have a homogenous rich white folk student body. >_<

My financial aid package wasn’t as loan-intensive as I expected. I got a little over $35K, of which less than $10K was loans. Plus you can negotiate with the school and stuff. I’m sure they’ll look at your case carefully.
