How is William and Mary's history program?

Hi everyone! I’m a highschool sophomore beginning to look at colleges and put together a list, and William and Mary is up for consideration. I’m looking to major in history, either general or an emphasis on American history. If anybody has any imput on what W&M’s history program is like, I would love to hear it! Whether you’re a student or just know somebody who is there, I’d be happy to hear anything either way. Thank you!

Check into the NIAHD summer program at W&M for high school students - you can get a taste of what the College has to offer, and even earn credits toward your degree (even if you don’t attend W&M). I can’t speak to rankings and all of that, but W&M offers great coursework in US History, and being “where it happened” helps make it all the more interesting and real.

I am not sure about the program but it has to be one of, if not the, best location for studying history.

My daughter did the NIAHD program this summer and loved it!!

The History department overall is pretty great. Given your username, you might be interested in hearing that there’s a history course being offered next semester called Hamilton’s America! It’s also awesome being near Colonial Williamsburg, I even had to go there for a class assignment once. Slightly unrelated note: If your school offers it, AP credits are super helpful in getting a head start on a minor or major.
