<p>My D, a rising junior, has Duquesne on her list for pharmacy. She has a 3.9 UW GPA, is in top 10% of her class, expects ACT around 28-31, is Catholic, and will probably have an EFC under $2,000 and possibly as low as 0. I'm a single parent, have about $8K saved in a 529 for her, and am willing to take on some debt if needed. But I don't want her to go too heavily in debt her first 2 years until she's sure she can maintain her gpa and really likes pharmacy! Is Duquesne a good fit for us financially? Their website doesn't list any merit scholarships so if you have experience here I'd appreciate the sharing!</p>
<p>My son, a non-Catholic, was offered $6,500 per year with a 3.48 and a 23 on the ACT. I believe the merit scholarships are tied to the ACT/SAT scores. I am also pretty sure that Catholics get an additional scholarship, too. You get your merit aid amount with your acceptance letter. Even though the admissions staff was the worst we encountered, I'd try and call them for the information. My son chose another Catholic school and I was amazed at how up-front they were with scholarship info. Fin. aid officer suggested taking the ACT again, promising to increase scholarship by $2,000 per year if son increased by one point.</p>
<p>Thank you Toledo - it's very good to know that they have at least one scholarship that she would qualify for and it's enough to offset the loss of her NY TAP money if she decides to go to PA!</p>
