UChicago is clearly a more popular place to apply this year. Isn't it reasonable to assume that the yield will increase also? They now say that they will admit the same number as last year. Doesn't that imply that the freshman class will be larger? Have they been planning for a larger class or are they trying to do it "accidentally" like Johns Hopkins did?

I'm just trying to understand the logic.

They aim to have a class of about 1350 by admitted 3700, according to a variety of articles I have read. This is the same as last year, and they are apparently predicting the same yield. Yield is more dependent upon FA than popularity, and although Chicago’s popularity has increased, I’m not sure its FA has.

On the other hand, I think in one of the articles it said that U of C’s budget for aid was $70m. A few years ago, this was $49m (or was it $59m?), which means that Nondorf’s been bartering to increase FA, as he has done with past institutions.
