I'm a junior now and am going to be conflicted for the May SAT. And in June I'm taking subject tests since it's right after school gets out and the material will be fresh in my mind. The SAT dates for the 09-10 school year are not out yet, but what is the latest I can take the SAT? I can swear I've read that some schools accept SATs in February AFTER their admission deadline.

There’s usually one in October, one in November, and both are usually good for ED while you have at least the December one for RD. It depends on the colleges though, to be honest.

You SHOULD take it in your junior year, because some colleges don’t like it when you take those tests as a senior. That said, I agree with what bestwhit said.

1) You don’t ever need to take the SAT unless you are a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist (or a contender for other scholarship competitions that require the SAT). Every single college and university in the US that requires a standardized test for admissions will accept scores from either the ACT or the SAT.

2) You need to read the websites for the colleges and universities that you are applying to, and find out what is the latest date by which you must take the exam (if they want one). Then, you have to take that exam by that date. This isn’t rocket science, it just means that you have to read through each schools’ website. And, some may very well accept scores from the February exam.

3) If you hate these tests, look at the list of test optional colleges and universities at [The National Center for Fair & Open Testing | FairTest](http://www.fairtest.org)
