Hey fendergirl, I'm just curious, what school do you go to and what is your major? Thanks!
Michele

york college. i'm a business major. ive got minors in visual communications and photography. one more semester :)

thats awesome! Do you like it there? My friend's interested in York. Good luck with the rest of your school year!

yeah i love it there. what major is your friend interested in?

i'm looking forward to the late start in college classes. I am a senor in HS and i get like 2-3 hours of sleep, it sucks, but somehow I manage to function.

I'm not sure, I think she's undecided as of yet.

SnP2k, that's dangerous, lol! At least at Wake, people get lots of sleep--naps, everything. That's first semester, freshman year observations, of course. Hopefully it won't change :-).

yeah.. the business department is really good.. it's a lot of work though, which i think is good. it's not busy work, but actually work that means something. in my international business course we had this "game" where the class broke into groups of 3 and we had this simulation program that we created a business. we had to make all of the business decisions including expansions, advertising, etc. it was really interesting because you got to actually make this company. we had other projects like managing stock portfolio's. (the reward for both of those games was that you didnt have to take the final.) we had other projects where we worked with a group and did a huge report on a company.. then we presented a big presentation to our class on the company, then we had to do that presentation infront of the executives of the company we did... you'll never have a fear of speaking again after that one, haha. next semester i have a policy course where, also with a group, you create a ficticious company.. its a huge project, and you have to research everything, come up with proposals and plans and all sorts.. i saw my friend's groups paper from this semester and it was something like 150 pages long... so basically it's a lot of work, but it's really interesting because it's how it actually works in the "real world."

ive also taken a bunch of art classes.. and they are really great. nice laid back atmosphere, kind of a lot of projects but i didnt really mind. i learned a lot about photography in my classes.. my work came out really nice, so i was very happy with it :) here's the magazine that i did for my one class http://www.chrisnlinz.com/digitalimaging/ (it's about student life at my school). it sounds pretty corney, but i meant for that.. because it seems like all college advertisements have some sort of fakeness to them. all of the images and writings in that are my own.

It depends...usually not past 12 am

If I am done with work early, I usually get to bed around 1-2am. If I have a lot of work I get to bed around 6am...I've done that plenty of times this semseter. By the way, i go to Cornell

nell. hell. corn.

11:30-1:00 on weeknights... 1:00-3:00 on weekends.. usually.

I go to bed fairly early, like around 10. It's rare that I stay up until the wee hours unless a paper is due the next day.

I usually go to bed around ten, but if I'm partying, there is no bed time.

Graveyard shift for me. I start college late almost every day of the week (3 1pm starts, 1 12pm start and 1 10am start), I tend to go to bed at about 2am most of the time. I'm a serious night owl.

Sleeping habits depend a lot on how mature/immature your dorm mates are. I went to school in Detroit way back in the day, having lived in California all my life. Dorm life (mainly from sunset to sunrise) for many residents consisted of water balloon fights, playing in-door hockey on the dorm floor, pizza deliveries until 1 am, getting drunk and playing football in the snow at 2 am, sitting in the lobby or tv lounge while one's roommate is upstairs getting laid, midnight poker games...you get the idea!

It also depends on the type of dorm you live in (old style multilevel or modern suite), and some people do actually study and sleep. Anticipate late night trips to the library or computer lab just for peace and quiet, and pulling all-nighters to write a paper or study for an exam. Freshman year, you will probably sleep consistently only from 4 am - 7 am M-F. All other hours are up for grabs.

Oh man, that's crazy!! I've been thinking about joining the campus quiet dorm, when and wherever I go to college. I like peace and quiet, and I can't study or sleep with foolish dolts running about the dorm "playing in-door hockey". Lol, that's just nuts. Good thing I've applied to all (I believe all, anyway) non-sorority/frat schools. I just wouldn't be able to deal with a bunch of high/drunk morons who feel the need to romp around the dorm at 3 in the morning. I need my peace and quiet. Ok, I'm done now.

No matter where you go to school you are going to encounter high/drunk morons...

I have yet to encounter and drunk/high kids... but I go to BYU. As far as sleep. I tried to get to bed by 1am this semester and started off that way but recently 3-4am is more honest with the occasional night that I stay up until 7am and the even more frequent night that I just don't sleep at all.

Yeah, I know you'll encounter them wherever you go.. that's obvious. I just don't want to have to deal with them.. =) As long as they don't bother me, I'll be fine.
