How less is too less?

Of course it means a lot to int’l people.Im just saying that it’s not that impressive to me like an Olympiad would be.
How much is your aggregate in 10th?

My 10th was 93.6
100 in math, in case it wasn’t implied in my previous post :P

No that was pretty much obvious!
Which board?Where are you from?

CBSE

10char

Nice to meet another person under CBSE.Everyone here who’s from India is from ISC or some other board.

Planning to answer that any time soon?

Research comes under EC’s.
And how did Anshuman Panda get the resources to do research??Something even the city kids find difficult to do,unless we have some relative working under ISRO or some other similar organisation?

At a math camp, I met a guy who got through to MIT with a 2000 SAT score and some 70% in 11th and 12th. His application was the epitome of ordinary. But he did have something special to show. He had bronze medal in Infomatics International Olympiad.
You’ll find it interesting to know that the aforementioned fellow applied to all the big names, Stanford, Caltech, Berkeley etc etc. He got rejected at all but MIT.

The point being that people with abysmal SAT and school scores do get into the best of colleges. But for most of us, who don’t have something extraordinary to show, need to excel in SAT and high school to cover up for our triteness. Why else would the said colleges want to admit us?

Pixie -

I am a researcher myself! Therefore I can say, to do any sort of research you don’t need to be associated with any sort of organisation (though having this sort of connection really helps).

Take the case of Adrivit (Duke’13 from Kolkata), he pursued his research sitting at home and continued it to pursue throughout his gap year. Which was the main hook of his admission to Duke with full ride.

Though my research is associated with a Research & Development Center, I just take the help of their equipments. That’s it. Even if I were in any village or so, I could have continued it.

Oh,nice. Is your research published though? What is it on?

continue… Even if I were in any village or so, I could have continued it, but with only a small difference.

I dislike the quoting of specific examples to prove an admissions related point. Generally, those people are exceptions, and not the rule.

pixie: Haha sorry, didn’t see that question. I’m from Jaipur.

Research is only considered if it is published. Is yours?

My research has already been submitted to a national science journal. I hope it will be published after being reviewed and remarked by the end of this year.

It is an integrated research on brain which focuses upon NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), chess, abacus, ambidextrous mind and how the combination of all helps to improve the focus of human brain to be a person with high IQ.

But I am not sure whether those guys will publish it or not. I hope they do.

Blue_box - these are the guys (Anshuman, Adrivit) who are my inspiration. They are my hope. After knowing them personally, my life has changed. Whenever I see their name, a stroke of adrenaline flows. You might not know this, but they are role model of so many guys here.
Adrivit and Anshuman come from poor households and lead on to be the model of so many.
Taking their name, my motive is just to say - “nothing is impossible. If these guys can do, why can’t we. The best is achievable”

I Salute - Mr. Adrivit & Anshuman (Thank you guys for trodding so beautiful a path for hundreds of Kolkatans here -may be so many Indians too)

My motive is just to disseminate that “If you can dream it, you can achieve it”

lol
It’s not necessary. Even if it is reviewed by any professor, it’s fine.
Their research were never published.

They were just like us. only their strategy differed.

Well,that’s good.Your research sounds interesting!

itsmylife - which camp are you talking about?

nooooooooooooo!! never…

It is a part of your academics. It is an example of your LEVEL of understanding of a certain subject.

My research (though interesting as u said) can be remarked as crazy (guy) and be rejected.
