How likely am I to get into Dartmouth, among others?

I am an upper class white guy from Iowa, who goes to a small (65 per class), very competitive Catholic high school, that does not report class rank. I am applying to Dartmouth (my father and grandfather also went there), Princeton, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, WashU, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Northwestern, and Duke.

weighted GPA: 3.955 out 4 (I had some B's as an underclassman, but straight A's junior and senior year)

SAT: 2150 (730 CR, 700 M, 700 W)
ACT: 34
SAT 2: 800 Biology M, 800 US History

AP Classes: APUSH, Bio, Euro History, Psychology, Language, Macroeconomics (all 5's), and this year I am taking AP World History, Calc AB, Literature, Microeconomics, Statistics, Chemistry, and Government. I am also taking anthropology courses at the University of Iowa.

ECs:
Quiz Bowl (9-12); Team Captain (11-12), State Runner-up, National History Bowl (10)
State History Bee Semifinalist (10), Eastern Iowa History Bowl Semifinalist (11), Eastern Iowa National History Bee Runner-up (11), 2x National Qualifier for National History Bee and National History Bowl (10, 11), Individual Runner-up at 2 state tournaments (11), State Quarterfinalist, Science Bowl (11)
Debate: Team Captain (12), Semifinalist at 2 local tournaments (10, 11) (Our team has zero budget)
Football Team: Varsity Letterman (10-12), District Champion (10-12), State Champion (10-12), Rotating Captain (12)
Math Team: State Champion (11), Great Plains Math League Regional Qualifier (11)
Research Assistant in Biology Lab: Published 2 papers, one as co-author, one as first author, came in 5 place nationally at Siemens Competition

Community Service: Mission trip to Guatemala, Volunteer at local hospital, Tutoring, Operation Smile, Key Club, and at my church's free lunch program.

I also have done Outward Bound, write opinion articles for my newspaper, serve on my Student Council, serve in NHS, and I am a National Merit Semifinalist (likely finalist).

My essays could use a good amount of work, however. I need to woodshed them, and hopefully they will improve. However, just assume they will be middling, as a worst case scenario kind of thing, I guess. :</p>

Thanks!

Great list of schools, might also look at Holy Cross. Holy Cross has very good combination of academics and social/athletic activities. HC has very strong alumni network. The HC website is informative.

Very strong chances…you’re from Iowa which has to be an underrepresented state…strong sports and academics…good sat and great gpa. Thought about sending one out to Stanford just to see what happens? Could get lucky and be the guy from Iowa lots of these top 10 places are looking to round out their class with. Think you’re definitely in @ Vandy/NW/Mich & Dartmouth w/the strong legacy status

work on your essays because essays are very important at these schools
if you can work on your essays, you definitely have a fair chance though

You think you’re soooooo cool with you “high grades” and “community service.” Well let me tell you something: you can’t get into a good school if you’re in Iowa. All they have is corn and farms and no college wants a country boy. So you and “y’all’s” fancy resume can go to kirkwood

Mr. fullblownAIDS needs to take a chill pill. I think you have a very good chance. In fact our Dartmouth session began with “do we have any alumni” I am pretty sure they care about their alumni. Even if you don’t get into those schools you have a very good chance of getting into very good schools. Your Stats are good. Mr fullblown Etc., IOWA is a great state .

FullblownAIDs that was completely unnecessary.

you have a great shot at any of the schools you listed. you’re a very well-rounded applicant. however, you may want to pad your SATs a bit, try to get over 2200.

otherwise, you’re super super strong. best of luck.
