A&M received my application on the 26th and I qualify for academic admit

I put down Petroleum Engineering as my first choice (Kinda a stretch at this late in the application season) and Chemical Engineering as my second choice.

From reading the FAQs on Aggie Answers, TAMU makes it seem like if you don't get your first choice, you have a near guaranteed change of getting your second choice.

What I'm unsure about is if this holds true for highly competitive majors (Petroleum, Chemical, etc.)

Do you think it will be likely that if I do not make Petroleum, then I will make Chemical?

Thanks in advance!
