How likely is it to get a single dorm at Cornell?

Since Cornell (Ithaca, NY) requires two years of living on campus, I assume it’s less likely to get room preferences met for both years. I have read on Reddit posts that it’s actually somewhat easy to get a single dorm, and dorms are pretty big, but I’ve heard contradicting stories as well.

I think the Cornell website only says that they have single dorms, but doesn’t give information on what percent of rooms are singles and past year demands for singles, etc.

Especially with hall constructions and unavailability, I’m not sure if I can get a single dorm.

There are also single-gender halls. I’m a male student.

I don’t know any specific details other than to tell you that my son who is a Cornell sophomore requested a single for his freshman year and he got it.

He wanted a double with a specific roommate for his sophomore year and he got that this year as well.
