How long after applying to get accepted/denied?

I just applied to four different schools for transfer, transcripts and everything are all set.

So how long until they get back to me? Also, when I do receive my acceptance/rejection letter in the mail, will I be able to tell based on the thickness of the envelope as to whether or not I was accepted?
