<p>I am an international student admitted into a school with an RA. I was wondering how long before the start of session should I move to my intended destination? </p>
<p>I guess there would be a lot to do as a new grad student including finding an apartment/setteling down, filling out school paperwork and getting to know my advisor/research lab better. </p>

<p>when does your RA funding start? depending on whether your school provides housing, your target city, and how many connections you have at your new school (for moving-in help, storage, etc), it can vary. </p>
<p>i did my cross-country move from california to new york a week before orientation; it was just enough time to buy furniture (craigslist, IKEA, costco), fill the fridge, and play a little bit of tourist :)</p>
