How long can the Why Columbia Essay be and still fit? Thanks.

nvm, I just realized it's 50 characters a line.

actually, i think its 75 characters a line

its 50 characters for the first line.
75 for the next 7 lines

Yah, just found that out. Why would they do that?

This weird multiple line setup is really annoying. Has anyone run across other colleges doing this, or is it just a trick to see how much we care about going to Columbia? ;)

Quick question: What's the word limit on the Personal Essay? (I'm submitting electronically) That's the only thing I have left. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

i don't think there is a word limit for the online app. I did single-spaced 12 pt garamond so that i could fit as much as possible and still stay under a page. Advice: just stay under a page.

since most long essays are around 500 words, i would try to stay around that mark

there isn't a word limit, but don't be too wordy. there is a file limit of 250kb... but good luck ever reaching that lol

The first line is only 50 characters because, if you look at the preview, the first line actually begins right after the question so there's less space.
