May 1st was the deadline for the RD guys to decide wasnt it?
For the guys who havent heard good news since Friday, should we give it just about couple of weeks more before start losing hope? :(

:( I’ve lost hope already…

Don’t lose hope. Good friend of ours unexpectedly got into Princeton, and will be turning down a free ride to Emory. Only child of well to do foreign parents, so why not?

Actually, a few others turning it down as well, although don’t know schollie info, but there’s a couple of openings I know of now, so don’t lose hope!

Good luck!

the emory 2013 group on faceook only has 904 members. how accurate do you think that could be?

some of them have turned down emory because of the financial aid and are still on the group… dont lose hope! we’re all in the same boat!

I know a couple people who turned down Emory too… but if we haven’t heard from the waitlist at this point… gulp.

Good luck good luck good luck!!!

It’s been awful quiet lately… maybe they’ve stopped taking from the waitlist? >_<

i guess theres nothing really to talk about. someone from my school just got off yesterday. when the waitlist concludes, i heard we get an email informing us that it has concluded.

@cpiers - It’s possible that Emory is still waiting to hear from the first wave of waitlisters if any of them are going to attend.

I’m guessing there’s still the option of staying on the ‘extended waitlist’.

I think there was a link on the housing info email that asked you if you wanted to stay on the waitlist.

why do i not get any of these emails? I haven’t got a housing email…great, is there some subliminal message there?

i havent heard from emory yet… does that mean im not going to get off the list?

i never really go on this or post anything, but i thought i’d put in my two cents. i called emory and they said they don’t expect to take many more people off this year and that waitlist activity is likely to wrap up within the next week.

^
Wow, if that’s true, then ■■■.

cpiers: don’t lose hope, the lady told me she’s not optimistic that they will take MANY more off, so that means they’re likely to take some. i’m crossing my fingers.

^ Yes, but the feeling is crushing, isn’t it? Back in April I waited to hear from each of my schools, with so much innocent, ignorant optimism, thinking, hoping that I could at least get into one decent school. But no. And now the process is repeating itself, with all of my waitlists, and I’m just sick of hoping; it should have dawned on me a long time ago that I never had a destiny (at least not a very good one), and that I am never one of the lucky ones who win. (Seriously, I have never even won Bingo.)

(Sorry for the weird rant, I’m in the midst of writing an intense, pretentious essay for Lit.)

Completely understandable. It almost would have been so much easier to have just gotten a final decision in april of admit or deny. I probably shouldn’t have high hopes, that way i won’t be too disappointed. Or i could be pleasantly surprised. Either way I guess all we can do is wait (ugh) and start appreciating our back up school, it could be our new home in the fall.

really, the best thing to do at this point is just expect the worst - which I think at this point is to assume that you are not going to be taken off by any of your waitlists. This way you won’t feel like you’re being forced to go to your safety school…

It’s worse for me because my safety’s Canadian. It’s deadline for deposit is mid May (pretty soon) and I still havent made the deposit yet…I think I’ll just do it by the end of this week.
