my safety is oxford. I love the small community feel but i also loveeeee emory college! ahh =[ i hate this whole waitlist thing!! hehe good luck to yall!!!

Of course each has its pros and cons. Oxford is cozier and easier to make friends, but it’s too small and in the middle of nowhere. Emory has a great campus feel.

hey cpiers, do you know anyone else that was removed from the waitlist lately?

ilovepeanuts: No one near me, no. But I believe patience1 was the latest person on this board to have been accepted (I think 3 days ago?).

All of you, don’t give up hope. Amazing things can happen and do happen every day. I’m sure the adcoms at Emory will come to their senses and take a few more off the waitlist. Good luck, I sincerely hope to see some of you in the fall!

^^Second mk’s post. The Ivies are just hitting thier wait lists and may pull some deposited kids from Emory opening spots. Hang onto some glimmer of hope, but begin to engage in your (now) only choice college.

Just got another email asking if I want to stay on the waitlist… Uh, duh.

got it too… i got all excited but then it was another of those emails… ugh!

I’m crossing my fingers for you guys!

hey guys thanks so much!!!

Here’s to hoping the Ivies take a lot of people…

^^^ hope you guys get in, good luck…

My guess is that they’ve probably filled up spots already, but the waitlist activity hasn’t concluded because some people will cancel enrollment…

I don’t know, maybe Oxford is a better fit for me. I just don’t like being on Emory’s WL because it makes me feel inadequate.

yeah its wierd that nobody on CC has announced that they got accepted off the waitlist

*I don’t know, maybe Oxford is a better fit for me. I just don’t like being on Emory’s WL because it makes me feel inadequate. *

And now you know why I’ve grown to feel that Emory is a better fit for me than Vanderbilt. Being on the waitlist really makes you feel incompetent, I know. Besides, you’ll probably get better grades at Oxford which will help your Emory GPA.

^ Oh, that makes me really, really sad. I’m glad you’ve come to like Emory.

Rejection is tough. Even worse is getting rejected from the waitlist. :(

hey i got off the waitlist yesterday (tues) @ 1pm
simona perales (multicultural recruiter) called me to leave me a msg.
she sent me an email & called my cell … leaving directions on both venues
she email said that i have 24 hrs to respond and show interest in considering the spot
AND that i have 72 hr to send a check for 450$ by overnight mail … so i have until like 2pm fri to decide :(

uhmm… i applied to 15 schools and forgot to send fin aid to a few of themm… ![]()
so now i dont get fin aid @ emory.
erik lips , one of the admin reps/ fin aid reps emailed me with a very straightforward, un-sugarcoated msg saying hey fin aid was due in march … you never sent anything. sorry kiddo WE WILL NOT CONSIDER YOU AT ALL.
wth? i mean i understand that im super delayed… but i still think it would be fair to be considered for fin aid
considering my folks make 80k total and only 1 parent works.
i have 2 very young siblings (4,6) soo… i am kind of in bad position

im from the midwest and I HAVE never been to emory
i visited atlanta when i was 8 and had a bad experience ![]()
i honestly dont know anything about emory… i ve been looking @ the posts and i havent found much on the student life/experience ![]()
i would really appreciate any tips/suggestions …
i have no idea if i should accept or not… i mean how do you know youre gonna fit in if youve never visited…
for the waitlisted students, feel freee to pm me or anything. i would love to try to help…:)

I thought that you could get seven days to visit the campus and then reply. I could have sworn that they said that. It would be kind of hard to go to emory without financial aid… especially if you need it. Umm most of the people that I know that go to Emory love it. What school are you considering choosing Emory over? By the way did you do anything to show interest in getting off the waitlist?

To the above poster:

Sounds like you are in a very tough position. Emory’s campus and student life, from what I saw when I visited, is absolutely fantastic. The diversity is stunning within the university and even better in Atlanta. Do not trust the bad experience you had as a small child, Atlanta is a booming city with numerous internship opportunities and something to do at any time of day or night. In regards to your financial aid position, I am very, very sorry to hear that you did not get a chance to apply. I’m sure that, if you really wanted to, you could work something out with the financial aid office. Personally, I had some trouble with the confirmation of my American Citizenship (I am a Bulgarian immigrant with a permanent resident “Green” card which I recently exchanged for a passport in order to gain American citizenship) and was thus forced to work things out with the financial aid office while my passport was pending. They worked with me and, in the end, everything worked out fine and I got (ecstatic about this) a full-ride (need-based). I sympathize with your situation due to the fact that you are similar to me in terms of demonstrated need. Do not worry that you have not been to Emory, you should certainly give the school your full consideration if things work out with financial aid. Call them and inquire about this NOW! Hope things turn out fine!

So the waitlist is still active! Yay.

I would say visit Emory and try your best to work out the fin aid situation. Don’t rely on our advice too much; go talk to the offices directly.
