How long did it take you to write YOUR essay?

I've been working on my essays since last October when '08 was applying. Haha. :] Now I've pretty much perfected them.

wow no life^ (just kidding lol)

haha no worries. my friend who has a social life and gets B averages in his classes started on them winter after the '07 applied. He got into Davis haha as an 08 kid

I haven't started yet in case that makes anyone feel better...I think someone made a good point before when he/she said everyone writes pretty much the same thing. I am one of the 99% of people who has not encountered anything absolutely extraordinary in my measely 17 yrs of existence, so I will be among the "generic" candidates.

In my daughter’s case… it depends. One of them she started in February, and it went through probably 50+ revisions before she submitted it in August on the very first day that she could. She clearly cared about that one… for her top choice school. Her Common Application Essay went through maybe 4-5 revisions over a week or two. Some of the school specific ones were written and submitted in less than an hour though.

It would be great if colleges somehow could see that effort and time expended too. If so… they would know who truly wants to go where and how to improve their yield rates…
