How long did you guys have to wait to receive the acceptance letter?

I was wondering, for those of you who have received an acceptance letter from McGill, how long did it take to arrive from the moment you saw that you were accepted on Minerva, till you received the actual acceptance letter via snail mail?

I need to know because I'm having my acceptance letter mailed to where I live in Vancouver, but I am now away on vacation, so I hope to get that package forwarded to my current address. My cousin who lives there will do this for me. I was first informed of my acceptance as a transfer applicant almost two weeks ago and am wondering if this is normal. How long does it take for McGill to mail the letters? Is two weeks normal, or a month, or how long?

Thanks.

(Bump to top.)

they ususally send it the same day they give u the decision on minerva. I was wondering how long it took 4 u 2 get a decision on minerva?? I sent my final grades in on thursday

I can't remember the exact timeline but I do remember that it was frustrating. Firstly, my son was waitlisted for combined Arts and Science (1st year of that program-he didn't even know it existed). Then he was denied admittance to same owing to too many candidates (that was the official reason on the letter).
Secondly, he was then admitted "pending approval" for both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science?????????????????
This went on forever. Turned out that McGill was only waiting for his IB scores to see where to place him-U0 or U1.
He was eventually accepted to both Faculties but I think that was sometime in June of his HS graduation year. I know that he made an 11th hour decision in July turning down US schools and accepting McGill.
In any event, if your application is "pending"-check this on Minerva -call them and ask why.

Thanks for your replies.

I sent in my final college transcripts in early May to McGill via my school, and saw my acceptance on Minerva shortly after, on May 14. Fortunately, my final grades came out early on, most by April 30, and just one more grade a few days later.

It's good to know that they send out the letters the same day I receive the decision on Minerva, but I also know that mail can take a while, which might explain why either I don't have the letter yet, or why my cousin in Vancouver doesn't have the letter yet. Either way, I'll check with both my cousin and McGill to hope that everything can be received in due time. After all, I need to make these decisions shortly, as my housing offer at my current school expires in six days.

I'm sure you are in. I am glad you are planning to call McGill. We and our son found the Admissions Office to be very approachable. It might just be a matter of a paperwork backlog. Good luck to you and your cousin. McGill is a very fine school.
