<p>I'm curious about the average amount of time one spends on the Common App and/or Supplementary essays. </p>
<p>Personally I've gone through about 8 hours total, but I discarded two drafts. My current one took about 5 hours, and it is now awaiting revision after I hear feedback from others.</p>
<p>It honestly depends. I had a friend who spent an hour on his Common App essay and got accepted to HYP, while my other friend spent hours and hours on his essay (12 drafts!) and got denied from most top schools he applied to. It’s all about how confident you are in your writing.</p>
<p>I’ve been working on my UC essays since the beginning of the month.</p>
<p>Oh, Lord, I spent a year writing my Common App essay…I didn’t do it all at once, obviously. I can write them in a couple hours if I have to, but they’re not as good.</p>
<p>too long…curse being a perfectionist and only being able to type with one finger :(</p>
