How long does it take for a school to acknowledge they've received your app

About how long does it take for schools to acknowledge receipt of applications.

I am just wondering. One of my schools emailed me within 24 hours. Another was about 3 days. I still have not heard from 3 of my schools. I applied via common app about a week ago.

There’s nothing wrong with emailing or calling, and saying, “Hey, just wanted to make sure you have everything you need from me.”

I have no problem calling but I think a week is a little quick.

I’m just wondering if most schools email you when they have received materials? Do some not email you at all? Etc.

Hey, I applied using the Common App to one particular school back in early January and they just got back to me last week and asked for a residency affidavit. The one I sent them back on January 4 must have been misplaced.

The response time may vary from 1 day to 1 month.

It depends, online applications are usually instantaneous. But for transcripts and things that are sent by mail, it depends largely on the school and the time that the information was submitted. For example, I had my college submit my transcript to Purdue, they mailed it out last Friday, so it probably arrived at Purdue on Tuesday (Indianapolis to West Lafayette, accounting for Presidents day) and Purdue processed it on Wednesday.

Remember, February is at the tip-end of rush periods for college applications, and things are probably operating a bit slowly for the next couple of weeks, so be patient. (I know that it is impossibly hard!)

Anyway, good luck!
