How long does it take for admissions offices to e-mail back!?

Well, I'm going through a bit of a dilemma right now-- I mailed the admissions/interview offices of Occidental, Wesleyan, and Reed inquiring about a possible interview, and I'm chewing myself up wondering "WHY HAVEN'T THEY RESPONDED YET?!" And that was nearly a month ago. I'm panicking about whether or not the recieved the message, or if they've simply ignored it, or etc. ... rather ridiculous, I know, but really! Have some mercy for a seventeen year old. T__T I know it might just be the fact that it's summer right now... but whoo, paranoia kills.

So, in anycase, I was wondering about everybody else who has emailed their schools: How long has it taken for them to reply back to you?

I emailed a college in May ans still I am here without a response. What you need to do is call, it helps ,i.e. I emailed a school and I did not get a response for like three days, give or take,so I called the person and told the person what i was looking for and the person said"your the one who emailed me right?" I was so mad. So just call ,it helps !

Okay, okay! Will do. I tried to avoid calling at first because, well, I live in Japan, and calling the states can be a bit pricey. ><

It varies. Some places respond right away and others never do. After about a month I think it is a safe assumption that they aren't going to. You could try emailing again (sometimes emails do go astray, end up in the inbasket of someone who is leaving, on vacation, etc.) But if you are really nervous, bite the bullet and call.

I'm assuming these schools don't have anything on their web sites specifying the procedure for getting interviews? Make sure that they don't say that they arrange interviews after applications are submitted or there is a specific way (other than the way you emailed) to get them set up.

You can always re-send the e-mail with a "2nd request, please advise" at the top.

If you happened to catch someone who was away for a summer break or whatever, your e-mail could have been pushed aside. If they see "2nd request" they should respond quickly, as they'll realize they missed you the first time.

Many admission officers are on vacation during the summer, so I would resend the email in Sept, when they are back. You can also call in Sept to follow through. Are you asking about doing interviews at the college, or off site? If you are not visiiting the colleges, then many times they won't interview [if they interview at all] until you have submitted your application.

I emailed the OSU fin aid office in march and they responded to it last month.
