I'm planning on applying ED and the deadline is Nov. 1. Do you think if I take the SAT in November and ACT in October, it'll be on time and the admissions committee will be able to review it? I know that ACT takes longer...

Depends on college because (a) many accept both Oct and Nov scores for ED; (b) however, there are a number that accept only through Oct. Your Oct ACT should be fine sent regular delivery, ideally you should name school as a free send on test application because doing so actually gets it to college faster than any other method. You would necessarily have to name the school as a free send for the Nov SAT test to assure it arrives on time if college accepts Nov test for ED. For that Nov test here is what would happened if you name the college as a free send: usually two days before the score is released to you on-line, CB puts the score in the college’s secured on-line account that it has with CB for the purpose of delivering test scores. Actual receipt of score then just depends on when the college bothers to go into that account and download scores (some do it daily, some weekly some in between the two). What usually takes longer in that situation is for the college to actually match it to your file once it has downloaded the score.

You can usually find the last test date allowed for ED on the school’s website.
