How long does it take the U to make decision?

I’m in! I’ve been diligently checking the mail since my status updated to “being very carefully considered” but that acceptance just never came. Just for kicks I checked the status online again today and it was updated today to accepted! So happy! As I’m a music major, I do still have to audition in january but I have been accepted to CLA so that should help my case.

congrats! what were your stats for CLA?

Thank you! I had a 3.9 WGPA, 25 ACT, top 10% of class, great ECs.

I had similar stats as well! Is that your first choice? The U of M is great. I’m taking classes there right now as a high school senior and I hope to see you next year!

It’s not my first choice, but as the only out of state school I’m apply to that is relatively affordable (also applying to UMich, Illinois, and Manhattan School of Music), it is definitely a great option. So it’ll come down to scholarship offers.

You get a huge maroon and gold envelope in the mail with CONGRATULATIONS written across it. When your app tracker says: “Your application is being carefully considered” I’d expect the envelope in 2 to 3 weeks.

They received my online application ( the golden gopher one) on September 8th, it was updated as complete on September 28th…still no decision.

The same thing on my status page:
“All of your required application materials have been received. Thank you! Students whose complete applications are submitted by the priority deadline will receive their decisions by the end of February. Students whose complete applications are submitted after the priority deadline are considered on a space-available basis beginning in March.”

Should I contact them or will they just tell me to wait? I have already been accepted to four schools and I was expecting to be accepted to UMinn. too o.O so frustrating…

TexRose, same here! I applied in early september and my status says the same thing! I emailed the admissions office, and all they said was that all decisions will be out by february. I am getting frustrated too, a lot of people I know have been accepted! I have been accepted to 3 other schools. Minnesota was the first when I applied to, and I have received no decision yet :(

Thats weird i applied early october and got in around november 15th to Carlson

^yea I don’t know what is up o.o hopefully it’s not a bad sign… I would be surprised and disappointed if I was rejected from UMinn.

I applied November 30, 2011 and still haven’t gotten a letter in the mail! On the online Application Tracker my status says “your application is complete”. Does this mean that they have already looked at my application or still have to?

It just means they have all your application materials (transcript, test scores, etc.) It doesn’t tell you whether they have actually looked at your application.

ohh good, thanks TexRose.

I’m in the same boat as a lot of you. All of my materials were received on September 28th… I’m still waiting for a response.

For all of the people still waiting…what were your stats? Here are mine…

Applied to CBS:

3.6 GPA
26 ACT
Honors and AP classes
Lots of ECs - student council, class officer, five different sports, etc.
Volunteering in political campaigns
From Rockford, IL

Still waiting for a response. Minnesota is my #1 choice right now!

Applied to CLC:
3.45 GPA (yes, I know it’s rough.)
31 ACT
Almost all Honors or AP
Lots of ECs- Directed a play for the community theatre my Freshman year, acted in over 5 musicals in High School (over 20 total), higher level before-school orchestra, volunteered at the library, ran food drives, and volunteered for Salvation Army.
From Madison, WI

Blerns3, I’m in the same boat as you. From what I hear, the U’s transcript system was messed up from mid sept. and earlier. I applied in late August and they got all of my application materials by Sep. 15th. A few of my friends applied the same time as me or earlier and none of us have decisions yet. My friends that applied in October or later have gotten their decisions as early as 4 days after applying. I have a 3.5 UW g.p.a and a 30 ACT, nothing but AP, honors, advanced and CIS classes with tons of ECs and volunteer hours. Some of the students that were accepted to Carlson had worse stats than mine so I’m not worrying too much, but the waiting is killing me!

I hope you get your decision soon Spence039, I got mine on December 24.

Does the status on App tracker change to show the decision, before or after mailing of decision? My son’s app has been “very carefully considered” all week and we are getting a little antsy.

Good luck to all waiting,

I applied in early September and had my decision by the end of October, even though I heard they don’t start sending out decisions until November. I actually got my letter and it took a week to show up online… Hmm? I think it depends which college you applied to, if you applied to a more difficult college such as the Biological Science, Carlson, or Engineering, and you were denied from that one, they then have to take the time to reevaluate you for your second choice, so that would take more time. I applied for Liberal Arts as my first choice, so that may be why my decision came so soon!
