How long does it take them to fix my correction?

I made a correction on my application last Wednesday, but I haven't received any verification from FAFSA through email yet. It's been almost a week already....

I would think you’d have heard something by now, but maybe it depends on what type of correction you made. They have a help line (1-800-433-3243); give them a call and see what they say.

I made a correction yesterday and got a new Sar within hours. I had forgotten to include my untaxed IRA contribution (I knew the original EFC was WAY too low). Of course this doubled my EFC, but there was no way I could have not made the fix. I’m sure the FA people at my son’s school would have wondered why my EFC was half of last year and had they asked for my W-2 it would have been obvious what happened. No, my Fafsa wasn’t flagged for verification, but I have a conscience!

^First they couldn’t calculate my EFC because of my mistake, so later I fixed my parents’ tax paid and they finally could calculate my EFC. That was the correction I made. But I haven’t received my any verification yet. :(

Shiny, make sure that when you resubmitted that the pins were input for both parent part and student part - I didn’t make corrections this year, but I believe both need to sign with each submittal - original and corrections. I could be totally off based because I haven’t had to correct this year and am going by memory. You should go back and make sure it’s actually been submitted, etc just to be sure.

Do you normally get an email confirmation when corrections are processed?

I made changes and updated the tax status to “completed.” Now two transactions are listed, and I am able to generate a SAR with the updated EFC. The new transaction shows a “processed date.”

However, neither I nor DS received an email notifying us that the corrected version had been processed. When the original FAFSA was filed, we both got emails.

I need to delete some schools and add new ones, but I don’t want to do this until I’m certain that the new version has been processed and received by the first batch of schools. How can I know?

Just log in, and if it says “processed”, then you’re good. Then check your SAR and make sure there aren’t any more errors.
