Hi Everybody,
I just submitted my UCAS app this weekend and was wondering how long it would take to receive my welcome letter, and when can I expect to get offers/rejections?

Hey again! Congrats on submitting you application! I’m submitting mine this evening. I’ve heard that you will hear in December / January, but I’m not an authority, so don’t take my word for it. But I was wondering if you changed your personal statement to include the British spelling of words (for example: analyze becomes analyse)? I’m not really familiar the British spelling of words, so I wonder if I should attempt it in my Personal Statement.

Hey, I was rushing to finish mine lol and I couldn’t decide on my fifth choice. I changed it from Leeds to UCL and then to St Andrews haha. No, I used US spelling. I considered using UK spelling but didn’t want to make a mistake or use it inconsistently. When I had my PS reviewed the reviewer changed “favorite” to “favourite” but didn’t change “realized” to “realised.” Maybe they forgot I was an American and thought I made a spelling error or something… I don’t know but I just decided it would be too awkward to try to write like a British person, since they would know from my application that I’m not.

Yeah I agree. It’s all English, after all! Thanks! And good luck to you with your application!

Thanks, good luck to you too! Where were you applying again?

I applied to Exeter, UCL, LSE, Oxford, and York. Which college did you end up applying to at Oxford? I chose Magdalen :)

Your welcome letter should come in a week to ten days. After that, when you hear back depends entirely on the university and for which subject you are applying. If you applying for a ridiculously competitive subject at a ridiculously competitive university, you may not hear back until February or March.

Oxford is the exception to this; you’ll hear back at Christmas time.

I applied to Exeter, Edinburgh, Durham, Oxford and St Andrews (only bc I heard they have an excellent International Relations program, I’m not really interested in going there though :/) I thought about Magdalen but went with St Hilda’s. I’m applying for German, so maybe I’ll hear back sooner? Also, Finalcut, have you submitted the extra work that Oxford asked for yet?

PPE doesn’t require extra work (as far as I know - If I’m wrong, CCers, please correct me!), just the TSA examination which I take on November 4!

I got a conditional from U of Glasgow already as an international from the states

Congrats brunhein! When did you submit you application?

Congrats, that’s fantastic! Are you going to accept it? The teacher who wrote my reference refused to predict my APs, as she wasn’t familiar with the concept and thought she had no accurate way to predict them, as she wasn’t my teacher for the subjects. I already earned a 5 on the AP German exam, but left three more APs as pending. Will this totally muck up my chances, or will it be alright since I’m applying as an international?

I submitted my app about 3 weeks ago, I did not predict scores and the conditions of my offer were a HSGD (HS Degree) and either an AP in a science at a score of 4 or an SAT II in a science at a score of 600
I don’t think I’ll end up accepting the offer as I am holding out hope for Trinity College Dublin

PS: I applied for Molecular Biology

That’s reassuring, thanks for the info (: Trinity College Dublin is beautiful, I went to visit Dublin earlier this year, and loved it! I would love to go there, but I found the student benefits for International Students were so much better in the UK, and Dublin is so expensive. Good luck though!

Has anyone received their welcome letter yet?

i have gotten it

I’m still waiting but all of the unis I applied to (except Oxford) sent me an email, and Ediburgh sent me a way to track their decision.

I got the email from St John’s, Oxford today; not sure if they’re going to send out actual mail due to the postal strike.

Hey there! I noticed that FinalCut10 is taking the TSA exam, I am aswell. I was wondering if you knew of any practice exams to look over besides the ones on the Cambridge Assessment testing site?

Anyone taking the History Aptitude Test?
