How long does it take for the FAFSA to be processed? I submitted it today and want it to be processed by March Second.

It tells you in the FAFSA instructions and information.

It just takes a couple days to process. Watch for the email when it is processed, and make sure that there are no issues with it (such as not signed by a parent). You should meet your deadline with no problem.

@kelsmom
Thanks for your reply, my parents and I signed the FAFSA with out PIN’s and the PIN is still being processed. Does the FAFSA process over night or just on business days? I know they have Sunday off.

Just a couple of data points:

I submitted originally on 2/6/2012, the FAFSA site says it was processed on 2/7/2012.

I did corrections today to bring in the IRS Link data, it says submitted 2/25/2012, processed 2/25/2012 (i.e., same day).

Really? I submitted it yesterday and it hasn’t been processed yet. Did you receive the confirmation email before or after 8 est:hours of business

For the original submission I filed at 9:30 PM or so, and got the email at around 2 PM the following day.

For the correction I did today, I haven’t received any emails yet. None of the numbers changed because all I did was do the IRS Link, and I did it originally from my tax return, so everything was the same. I don’t know if I will even get any emails from this.

If you are waiting for PINs to be accepted in the federal database, your PINs must first be accepted in the federal system. After that, the FAFSA will process. It should be set by Monday, since this is not an especially busy time. If it takes until Tuesday or Wednesday, it’s still not unusual.

My pin has not yet been confirmed and it’s already been 2 days. Is this normal?

Oh alright, I just hope nothing goes wrong. I’m REALLY paranoid…

You’ll be fine. Relax and give it another day or two.
