How long does it take to process FAFSA?

Can it be shorter than 3 days?

We submitted my son's last night, and it was processed today. I was impressed-- and also relieved as we had listed schools alphabetically, not considering that some have a Feb. 1 deadline and some a Feb. 15 deadline. If you are going to submit FAFSA to more than 10 schools, I in retrospect recommend listing schools by earliest deadlines!

I did mine on MOnday got it Tuesday

Ours was also processed by the next day.

I made the same mistake by sending to only one college today while I have more colleges with deadline on Feb.1st. Hopefully I have enough time to add them.

So if the priority date is Feb. 15, and I submit the FAFSA online in the first week of February…I should be fine, right?

It was submitted Saturday and processed by Monday. School does not show it as received yet …

Not long, but it takes the schools forever.

mpabon: Once the FAFSA is processed, it’s stored on their server, where it waits for the schools to download it. You’ve done your job, and the schools will grab it when they’re ready.

uml1958:

I has selected my D’s 8 schools. She verified they were accurate. I finished the form, and had a page with my EFC and colleges…and one was missing! I thought…what the heck? Why? NOW I’m going to have to wait until it’s processed to send the other one! Will I have time!? Ended up bring processed in one business day. I pulled it back up to send it - and the school had reappeared?

So - if you THINK this is what happened (otherwise, why didn’t you send all at the same time), then it MIGHT not end up being a big deal. I have no CLUE why it didn’t appear the first time.

R124687, You are not the only one. It happened to me. I submitted yesterday and now I have to wait. I called school and tried to explain to them but no help. It is your problem as they said. Now I am checking everyday and try to delete/add school before 02/01/10 deadline. Gross fingers.

mpabon, how do you know whether your schools have gotten them or not? Can you find this out through the FAFSA website or through the colleges website?
