I know a word, "master" sounds ... wrong. however I got a feeling (and read and hear) that AP Statistics is very easy(perhaps compared to other AP exams) and it's not even considered as "math" whatever.

I am taking AP Calc AB and i am starting soon to cover BC part individually(self-studying) to take BC instead of AB in May.
However I also like to take AP Statistics if I can. (I heard some strager or smart-ass who studied couple days before test and still be able to pull 5.. :P)

How long does it take to self-study AP Statistics and probably getting 4 or 5 on an AP exam??
(and I am talking about an ordinary student who have gotten As in AP Calc AB)

I don't think the curve on the AP stat test is as nice as the Calc one is and some people do find the test hard, but I'm taking the class now and I find it extremely easy. The material can be learned on your own if you get a good book (and maybe textbook). Give it a shot!

yea my class is really fun. we even get nap times :D just memorize the equations, vocab (?!?) and if u enjoy doing probability, which in my case is the stupidest piece of crackpot ever existed, ull get a five

THAT'S the curve???
If so, it'd be easy. I was about to say it's not that easy, if you're leaning in depth and analyzing everything (by that, i mean EVERYTHING). It's supposed to be a 1 sem. course, so it might be more doable (self studying wise) than others.
GL thou

It depends on how good you are at grasping concepts quickly. I would say that if you have a knack for math, about 12 hours spread over three weeks should be enough, as long as you are willing to think fairly deeply about it and make absolute sense of everything. I just read through a Barrons book and feel like I mastered the material quite well (got a 5, of course, but also feel like I understand statistics).

The most important thing is to grasp the concepts. If you can do that, you're set.

AP Calc BC students scoring a 5: 39.8%
AP Stat students scoring a 5: 12.6% (thank god for all those people who think they can self study)

Not surprisingly, everyone at my school also thinks that Statistics is "the biggest cakewalk math class ever" yet many of them bombed the semester exam and have low As or high Bs. I don't think you can plausibly say a class is easy unless you have above a 97 in that class. Give some respect to Stat.

Hmmm. I was feeling confident about suggesting 3 months of study (my kids did 5 months, each) in order to get a 5 on the test, but it seems many others needed much less time. I agree that the materail is not as difficult as Calc BC, but it is important to do a substantial number of problems, and to make certain that you have not neglected one or more of the subjects that is tested on the exam.

slipstream i am confident in my mathematical abilities (i love math) and am pulling a solid 100% in the class, a class where the next closest grade is about an 83%. I do have respect for stat, but not the kind we do in HS as much. Calculus based statistics is MUCH better.

You should know that Stats is difficult in some respects. It's not all 'that' easy. I find Calculus at times easier than Stats, in fact. but it is 'self-studyable'. I'd say start at least by February.

stats is MUCH easier than Calc, ( I have taken both) but you probably do need a teacher to tell you where to focus on. + knowing calc will make stats easier

I'm going to be a sophomore next year and I'm taking AP Bio, AP French, and AP Euro....is it unreasonable to considering self-studying AP Stats?
