hey so i am a spring admit
and i was wondering how long it takes to move into the dorms. I dont have too much stuff...but my parents do need to go to work so i was wondering how long it usually took! Thanks

Depends on how packed it is and how long the lines are. Back in August the actual moving of stuff and waiting in line part took around 3 hours for me, but I was on the 8th floor and waited a lot for the elevator. If they can budget 3 hours, you'll probably be fine, just use their help to get your stuff into your room and unpack once they're gone.

cool...thanks...we are planning 4 hours...so hopefully its enough :D

It should be a lot shorter. People won't be bringing quite so much, plus there is no one standard move-in day. On what day are you planning on moving in?

it really shoudn't take more than 1 hour to get all ur stuff into ur room, in spring fewer ppl move in so elevators and carts are free, setting ur room will take a few more hours

I agree with sonic pwr, the lines should be a lot shorter and less crowded. Should be between 1-2 hours.

ok tight...i plan to move in on the 12th. and i dont really have that much stuff....at least i dont think so lol

Classes don't start until the 20th, so I would expect the dorms to be completely deserted. Are you sure that you want to move in that early? And just out of curiosity, where are you staying? (I'm in Norton Hall in Unit 3 over here)

wow I didnt know Spring admits can move in earlier. I thought the first day was the 13th.

The first day anyone can move in is the 12th, although the semester officially starts the 13th. I thought it was the 13th too, but here says the 12th.

Thanks for the info...however I doubt many people will move in on the 12th.

lol i am actually not really sure what i am gonna do for 8 dayz until school starts...but its the only days my parents can take half a day off from work that week <__> and i am kinda eager to come to Cal..

i know 4 people so far that are moving in on the 12th...so i hope i am not to bored..i was thinking i could explore Berkeley..idk i am really hoping i am not deserted...that would be kinda weird

christopher546: i am also in unit 3! but i don't know what floor or roommates...they said they would tell us on move-in day.

Do you know the hall?

where are you dorming?

Reppin' Unit 3 Spens-Black!!!

all i know is unit 3 triple....everything else they said we would find out on move in day

Hmm, that is pretty vague. For fall move-in, they at least told us the hall within Unit 3. I wish you a good move-in and hopefully there are some people around. When you find out where you are, let me know. It's always good to meet new people.

Unit 3 Ida Sproul!

Just two more ppl from Norton and Beverly Cleary and we'll have unit 3 covered ;)

Unit 4 > Unit 3 > Unit 1 > Unit 5 > Unit 2

yea it is extremely vague. i will def let u know...and thanks everyone for ur help

leftist: out of curiosity...whats unit 4?
